What a difference a new planting makes!
This past Sunday morning, over Memorial Day weekend, a hard-working NYC Parks crew planted the Triangle. The team of many took over four hours to finalize the layout, complete the soil prep, and conduct the actual planting. This initial phase follows the same footprint of the old yews that were removed. If you are interested in the specific plants, head over to our other blog post Meet Our Newest (plant) Babies that identifies each one.
In addition to the planting, a gently worn park bench was added at the northern end. Unsurprisingly, someone is always sitting in it which just goes to show that additional seating would be welcomed. We plan to do a set of short interviews of folks who take a break at the bench. This will also help us gather community input into the next phases. If there are any volunteers who are experienced in this sort of thing, let us know.
