The Five Boro Bike Tour Started Right Here — and What a Morning It Was

Thousands of cyclists, the mayor with a thumbs up, and our little triangle at the center of it all.

The energy at Barnett Newman Triangle on Sunday morning was something we won't forget. The Tribeca Trib covered the morning beautifully — read their full recap here. Thousands of cyclists rolled through our corner of Tribeca to kick off the TD Five Boro Bike Tour — one of New York City's most beloved springtime traditions! Cheering on the riders at the start of their 40-mile borough-wide journey right here at the Triangle was a genuine thrill!

The Mayor Stopped By

The morning got even more special when Mayor Zohran Mamdani took the stage at the tour launch. We couldn't resist getting him in front of our BNT cutout where he gave an enthusiastic thumbs up!

Seeing city leadership show up for the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, launched at our neighborhood green street, is a powerful reminder of the momentum building around Barnett Newman Triangle and the broader vision for sustainable, people-first public spaces in New York City.

And other community leaders and friends were also on hand--donning our FoBNT t-shirts-- celebrating the kind of community that makes events like this possible.

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who came out to make the morning so special!

Why This Moment Matters

For us, the Bike Tour was more than just a fun event — it's a glimpse of what Barnett Newman Triangle can be. When thousands of people flow past this corner, when neighbors gather to cheer and strangers stop to smile, when a mayor poses for a photo at a community event — that's the Triangle at its best.

We've been working toward a future where this space is greener, more welcoming, and more alive. Sunday showed us — and the rest of the city — that it's already well on its way.

Huge congratulations to all the cyclists who rode. Your energy was infectious. And thank you to everyone who came out to cheer — you made our corner of Tribeca a landmark moment at the start of the route.

See you next year. 🚴
